19-07 Approved Commission MinutesCrystal Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission - Neighborhood Meeting Minutes July 10, 2019 Iron Horse Park The Parks and Recreation Commission Neighborhood Meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by Commission Vice-Chair Lynn Haney. Commission members in attendance were: Lynn Haney, Andy Leipold, Dave Anderson, Jesse McCaffrey, and Terencio Safford. Also present were Nancy LaRoche, Council Liaison; Anne Norris, John Sutter, John Elholm, Brad Fortin, Lt. Derrick Hacker, and Scott Berggren from the City Staff. Introductions were made of the Commission members and City Staff. Mr. Sutter provided information on current and upcoming city projects. Lt. Derrick Hacker addressed the uptick in recent phone scams. He also made himself available for questions or concerns. Mr. John Elholm talked about the Parks System Master Plan that was completed in 2017, and how it relates to potential changes to Iron Horse Park. Mr. Brad Fortin highlighted recent and upcoming park projects and maintenance activities. Mr. Berggren gave an update on programs and events in the Recreation Department. He highlighted current and upcoming activities. A resident received a Crystal Community Center activity gift certificate in a drawing. The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 pm. John Elholm Recorder Crystal Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Minutes July 10, 2019 Iron Horse Park The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Meeting was called to order at 7:58 pm by Commission Vice-Chair Lynn Haney. Commission members in attendance were: Lynn Haney, Andy Leipold, Dave Anderson, Jesse McCaffrey, and Terencio Safford. Also present were Nancy LaRoche, Council Liaison; Anne Norris, John Sutter, John Elholm, Brad Fortin, and Scott Berggren from the City Staff. Commission Member Lori Merriam, Erin Kolb & Meredith Torres-Walsh were absent. There was no public comment. Mr. Leipold made a motion to approve the June Park and Recreation Commission minutes as written; Mr. Anderson seconded the motion. The Park and Recreation Commission minutes for June were approved as written. There was no Chair report. Mr. Elholm gave an update on the Becker Park project. The plaza on the west side of the park has been installed. This space will allow for much program flexibility, and will also provide a hard surface for winter skating. The valves for the spray fountain have also been installed. Mt. Berggren led a recap of the June commission tour. Overall the Parks and Recreation Commission spoke highly of the tour experience and enjoyed the relevancy of the tour spots. Ms. LaRoche gave the City Council Report. There was no Crystal Fund Report. Reports were given by Mr. Fortin for park maintenance, and Mr. Berggren for recreation programming. Mr. Elholm reported on the Welcome Park ribbon cutting on July 25 and the new stage purchased by the Recreation Department which will be used at the Community Center, and out in parks. Mr. Elholm also mentioned the possibly grand opening date of Becker Park as May 16, 2020. Ms. Haney gave a Crystal Frolics report. The Crystal Frolics will be held July 25-28, 2019 at Welcome Park.
