North Lions Park
The Parks and Recreation Commission’s Neighborhood Meeting was called to order at
7:02 pm by Commission Chair Guy Mueller.
Commission members in attendance were: Guy Mueller, Lynn Haney, Meredith Torres-Walsh,
Erin Kolb, Andy Leipold, Lori Merriam and David Pascoe. Also present were Olga Parsons,
Council Liaison; Nancy LaRoche, City Council, Anne Norris, John Sutter, Doug Leslin, Brad Fortin
and Scott Berggren from the City Staff.
Introductions were made of the City Council Members, Park and Recreation Commission
members and City Staff.
Ms. Norris gave an update on work being done by City Staff, including the 2018 budget.
Deputy Chief Leslin provided information about police activity in the North Lions neighborhood.
He encouraged neighbors that no comment or concern is too small for the Police Department,
and they welcome calls for service.
Mr. Sutter provided information on current and upcoming city projects, including the Blue Line
(Light Rail) project as well as the Bass Lake Road Streetscape project.
Mr. Berggren presented an overview of the Parks System Master Plan. Concept boards for the
larger parks were on display and discussed. He also mentioned upcoming recreation activities
taking place during the month of August.
Mr. Fortin highlighted recent and upcoming park projects. Parks staff was very busy over the
last two weeks getting ready for, and helping at the Crystal Frolics. They are not working on
any major projects in 2017 in lieu of the Parks Systems Master Plan.
Residents asked a few questions regarding North Lions and the Park System Master Plans.
A resident received a Crystal Community Center activity gift certificate in a drawing.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.
