Memorandum
DATE: January 3, 2018
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Anne Norris, City Manager
SUBJECT: 2018 City Manager Work Plan
During the city manager performance evaluation discussion, there were 4 goals
identified for 2018 which are listed below.
1. Strategic leadership/visioning – provide vision for and encourage innovation
in achieving Council priorities.
2. Financial management – continue work on long term financial management
and establishing policies to meet the Council’s goals.
3. Service delivery – continue to respond to citizen complaints, continue to be
proactive in responding to problems and analyze calls to determine whether
there are trends we (staff) could anticipate.
4. Media relations – determine expectations for staff and elected officials for
information regarding critical incidents.
I am working with the city’s consultant, Karen DeYoung, on developing an outline of my
work plan to meet these goals over the coming year. I will have a draft out to you prior
to the January 11 work session.
The Council should and provide comments as to whether the goals and associated
work plans for each address the Council’s priorities.
