1965 PC Meeting Minutes171 JANUARY 11, 1965 The regular meeting of the Planning Commission convened at 7:30 P.M. with the follow- ing remembers present; Anderson, Juday, Plasencia, Neubarth, Carl Johnson, Elson, Al Johnson, Gilchrist, Nystrom, Sawicki,, Peters, the following were absent: Renu:,,, Gabbert, Mucher, Boardman; also present were planning consultants: Schmock and Sherburne. Moved by Commissioner Al Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Sawicki to approve minutes of the December 14, 1964 meeting. Motion carried Moved by Commissioner Sawicki to nominate Commissioner Elsen as chairman for the year 1965. Moved by Commissioner Sawicki and seconded by Commissioner Johnson that nomi- nations be closed and the secretary be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for Com- missioner Elsen as chairman. Motion carried Moved by Commissioner Nystrom to nominate Commissioner Boardman as vice-chairman for the year 1965. Moved by Commissioner Nystrom and seconded by Commissioner Juday that the nomi- nations be closed and the secretary be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for com- missioner Boardman as vice-chairman. Motion carried Moved by Commissioner Nystrom to nominate Commissioner Neubarth as secretary for the year 1965. Moved by Commissioner Al Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Peters that nomi- nation be closed and the secretary be instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for Comi- missioner Neubarth as secretary. Motion carried Moved by Commissioner Juday and seconded by Commissioner Gilchrist to grant building permit #14415 to Vern Construction Co. for remodeling and addition to building at 5425 Lakeland Ave. N. for Apco Gas Station for a service bay. Notion carried Moved by Commissioner Nystrom and seconded by Commissioner Neubarth to grant tenta- tive approval of Helmin Addition. (Lots 8 and 9 block 1, Hebbe's Addition) Motion carried Moved by Commissioner Nystrom and seconded by Commissioner Al Johnson to grant tenta- tive approval of Sexter's Addition, subject to utility and drainage easements over the South 5 feet and the East 10 feet of the westerly 84.38 feet. He informed us that the Park Commission would like to acquire this property but their problem at present is finances, but would like to have the City hold building permits until they can see if they can purchase this property. Moved by Commissioner Neubarth and seconded by Commissioner Nystrom to recommend to the Council and Park Commission to acquire the Tanner's Realty property, part of Lot 165 Auditor's Subdivision No. 110. Motion carried Mr. and Mrs. Kneen appeared regarding Kneen First Addition, asking if we would con- sider platting without the street easement for 30th Avenue. The opinion of the Plan- ning Commission that 30th Avenue should not be vacated. No further action was taken at this time. Motion carried The City Council has requested that the Planning Commission members attend the May 4, 1965 council meeting to discuss zoning in the area of 30th to 32nd Avenue North and east of Winnetka Avenue. The fifth annual State Wide Community Planning conference will be hbld Friday and Saturday May 7 and S, 1965 at the Raddison Hotel, Minneapolis. Those wishing to make application to attend should do so immediately. This is a budgeted item and can be paid for by the City.
